Hello and welcome!
Thank you for visiting my website.
I am a licensed and qualified accredited practitioner with over 17 years of experience in mental health. I live and practice in Exeter, Devon; UK; but I am currently only working online.
I am multilingual and fluent in both English and Portuguese. I hold three university qualifications and trained at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa (previously known as Rand Afrikaans University).
I was awarded membership to the Golden Key International Honor Society and I am registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS), Social Work England (SWE), British Association of Social Workers (BASW) and the Association of Integrative Coach-therapist Professionals (AICTP).
I have had the fantastic opportunity to have worked with individuals across the lifespan: children, adolescents, adults and older adults; groups and families on a broad range of mental health issues, in primary and secondary care.
I have years of clinical experience in the assessment, management and treatment of individuals with severe, enduring and complex mental health issues. I have worked abroad in an inpatient service and all the diverse NHS mental health settings, including early intervention psychosis services, crisis intervention and community adult and adolescent mental health services.
I am skilled in a range of mental health issues which include self-harm, emotional distress, anxiety, depression, bipolar, OCD, social phobia, personality difficulties, stress, trauma, self-esteem issues, Autism, Aspergers, ADD, ADHD, anger, bullying, relationship difficulties, work or school-related stress and mental health issues.
For the past four years, I have worked with individuals in crisis who have presented at hospital for for threats or incidents of self-harming or suicidal behaviour. I am competent in being able to safely assess, manage and contain individuals presenting with complex and challenging behaviours who are at high risk to themselves or others.
I have a particular interest in working with teenagers and young adults that experience self-harming urges or engage in self-harming acts. I have the systemic skills and understanding of the impact this has on family and relationships. As a result of this, I work closely with parents and caregivers, offering them the necessary support and opportunity to discuss their concerns and review their child’s progress.
I use a range of therapeutic approaches and modalities gained over several years of working experience. These are used depending on each client’s individual needs and goals.
If you are seeking support for yourself, your child, family member, friend, staff or clients, I hope you find that which can be of help.
